The development comes a day after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Iran and met President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Pakistan has emerged as a mediator between Tehran and Washington since the conflict erupted on February 28 following coordinated strikes by the US and Israel on Iranian targets.
A ceasefire that came into effect on April 8 has largely held, though tensions remain high.According to Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, Tehran was reviewing the latest US proposals while reiterating demands for the release of frozen Iranian assets and the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports.
Trump threatens, Ghalibaf retaliates
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, May 20, warned that diplomacy was nearing a breaking point.
“It’s right on the borderline, believe me,” Trump told reporters, as per news agency AFP. “If we don’t get the right answers, it goes very quickly. We’re all ready to go,” he added.
Meanwhile, Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of attempting to reignite the conflict after Trump’s remarks.
Ghalibaf warned of a “forceful response”, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said any renewed confrontation would extend beyond the West Asian region.
