Tulsi said it was a warm experience to know the “rich history” and the “vibrant democracy” of India which serves as the foundation for a special bond between the US and India.

“When we greet each other with ‘Aloha’ and ‘Namaste’, what it means is that I am coming to you and greeting you with respect. It is a recognition of the eternal divine spirit that exists within each of our hearts. It’s a reminder that we are all connected, that we are all children of God, regardless of our race or religion, ethnicity, politics, background, where we come from, our status in society,” she said.

She added that by greeting each other in this manner, the doors to a much more meaningful and deeper exchange are opened, which are beyond the partisanship and divisive conversations that take place.
“By greeting us in this manner, we are opening the door to a much more meaningful and deeper exchange that gets past the divisiveness and the partisanship that too often poisons the conversations that we have. It’s a critical reminder that what we share in common is far more powerful than that which sets us apart,” she remarked.

Gabbard thanked PM Modi for the invitation to the Raisina Dialogues, which is being organised by the think-tank Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in the capital from March 17 to 19.
“I thank PM Modi for the invitation. I leave right after our dialogue for Washington DC and it has been a constructive few days engaging with our Indian counterparts working to build off of the momentum that was created by President Trump and PM Modi’s joint statement in Washington DC, after their Oval Office meeting,” she stated.
She added that these gatherings are significant as they provide a scope for engagement in direct dialogues on the most timely and pressing issues that the world faces in the current times.

“The theme of this conference couldn’t be better – people, peace, and planet – highlighting these fundamental aspirations that unite us, it’s the foundation on prosperity, security, and freedom rests. If we are not at peace, we cannot be truly prosperous, secure, or free,” she stated.
“Our shared vision for the future provides us with the opportunity to build more meaningful relationships and work together as we leave this conference towards the interests of the people, to protect our planet and to further the cause of peace,” Gabbard added.
