The Telangana government has announced Dussehra holidays for schools and junior colleges. According to the notification, schools will get a 13-day break, while junior colleges will observe an eight-day holiday.The announcement states that schools will remain closed from September 21 to October 3. However, the break may be extended by two days as October 4 and October 5 fall on weekend. This may extend the holidays until October 5 but there’s no confirmation yet.Junior colleges will observe holidays from September 28 to October 5. According to the state’s school calendar, classes at all colleges will resume on October 6.
Education officials have advised students to plan their academic and extracurricular schedules accordingly, as classes will resume immediately after the holiday period.
The state has instructed all schools to complete the Formative Assessment-2 (FA-2) exams before the Dussehra holidays. Formative Assessments are part of the continuous evaluation system in schools, designed to check students’ progress during the academic year.Once the Dussehra holidays are over, students will need to shift their focus to Summative Assessment-1 (SA-1). In Telangana, SA-1, also known as half-yearly exams, is scheduled from October 24 to October 31, with results expected to be declared by November 6, 2025.Junior college students need to manage their time efficiently after the Dussehra break, as their Half-Yearly Exams are scheduled soon after, from November 10 to 15.Earlier, Karnataka announced the Dussehra holiday schedule for schools. Schools will close from Saturday, September 20, and the holidays will continue until October 6, with classes resuming on October 7 in the state.This year, Durga Puja will begin on September 28 and will conclude on October 2, with celebrations spanning five days.
