The Nifty ended 65 points lower but failed to defend the 25,700 mark on a closing basis. The Sensex fell 250 points. The Nifty Bank was little changed as of closing and that kept the Nifty losses in check.

The Nifty Bank was little changed as of closing and that kept the Nifty losses in check. The banking index managed to defend the 59,500 mark again. The PSU Bank index though, ended at a record high after some strong results by Union Bank of India on the slippages and asset quality front. MRPL shares also ended with strong gains after its results, while Groww recovered from the intraday lows to end higher after steady internals in the third quarter.
