Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Sensex ended 1 point higher at 77,187, while the Nifty slipped 6 points to close at 24,073. The Nifty Bank index fell 176 points to 57,582, while the Nifty Midcap index declined 256 points, or nearly 0.5%, to 62,687. Market breadth remained weak, with the advance-decline ratio at 4:5, indicating that declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones.
Among sectors, IT stocks lent support to the benchmark indices, while financial stocks weighed on the Nifty. Insurance shares saw sharp declines following earnings, with ICICI Prudential Life falling 3%. ICICI Lombard dropped more than 10% after reporting a sharp increase in its combined ratio.
On the gaining side, IndiGo was the top Nifty performer, rising nearly 2%, while Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra also ended higher. ABB climbed 7% after ABB Plc reported an 81% jump in India order inflows.
EMS-related stocks, including Dixon Technologies, Kaynes Technology and Amber Enterprises, advanced following the announcement of PLI 2.0. BHEL gained 4% after reporting its quarterly results.
