TCS appoints Amit Kapoor as Chief AI & Services Transformation Officer to lead new global unit

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has appointed Amit Kapoor as the Chief AI & Services Transformation Officer to lead its newly formed global AI unit. The strategic move consolidates the Tata Group IT major’s existing AI and data teams under a single umbrella, aiming to accelerate innovation and digital transformation across the organisation.The new AI unit will integrate TCS’s current AI capabilities, deepen domain-specific AI solutions, and establish new partnerships to expand its global footprint. The existing AI & Data unit will be absorbed into this restructured organisation, marking a significant shift in TCS’s approach to AI-driven services.

TCS Q1FY26 financial results
On July 10, TCS reported its first-quarter results for fiscal year 2026, falling below Street expectations on most fronts. The company’s constant currency (CC) revenue declined 3.3% quarter-on-quarter, compared to the CNBC-TV18 poll projection of a 1.4% sequential decline.In rupee terms, TCS reported revenue of ₹63,437 crore, a 1.6% drop from ₹64,479 crore in the March quarter. Analysts had expected a smaller decline of 0.4% to ₹64,206 crore.

In US dollar terms, TCS’s revenue decreased by 0.6% quarter-on-quarter to $7,421 million, missing estimates that forecasted 0.6% growth. The previous quarter’s revenue stood at $7,465 million.

TCS share price performance

TCS shares closed half a percent higher at 3,157 on the NSE. So far this year, the Tata Group IT firm’s shares have corrected more than 23%.
