Trump Media to offer paying clients faster access to Trump’s market-moving Truth Social posts

Date:

Trump Media, the company that operates the Truth Social social-media network, is launching a service to give customers “licensed, real-time access to posts from the highest-ranking Truth Social accounts including President Trump”.The move seeks to capitalise the market-moving power of social media posts by the US president and other influential people.

The paid data feed, called Truth API, will send posts directly to clients, including banks and trading firms, and is expected to launch on August 1.
According to Reuters, the service will provide faster access to posts from 10 influential Truth Social accounts than regular push notifications on the platform.“Markets already move on Truth Social posts,” Trump Media interim CEO Kevin McGurn said, adding that the company expects the service to become a meaningful and recurring source of revenue as adoption grows.

The service is aimed particularly at organisations where even a short delay in receiving information can prove costly, including algorithmic trading firms.Trump has repeatedly used Truth Social to make major policy announcements that have moved financial markets, including on tariffs and trade restrictions involving China.

The launch also comes amid growing scrutiny over whether people with advance knowledge of potentially market-moving information can profit from it.

In a separate development, Trump’s longtime teleprompter operator, Gabriel Perez, is under investigation by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission over potential insider trading on prediction-market platform Kalshi, Reuters reported.

Kalshi detected suspicious activity involving its so-called “mention markets”, which allow traders to bet on whether particular words or phrases will be used during speeches and other public events, and referred the trades to the regulator.

Perez’s account was frozen before potential profits of more than $90,000 could be withdrawn, according to Reuters.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Perez had been placed on unpaid leave and later said he would no longer work at the White House. Perez is cooperating with the investigation.
