US President Donald Trump has cautioned that numerous agreements, lists, and letters claiming to influence the US-Iran negotiations are being circulated by individuals with no involvement in the process. In a statement, Trump described many of these actors as “total fraudsters, charlatans, and worse,” and said they would be exposed following a federal investigation.Trump emphasised that there is only one group of meaningful points that the United States recognises. These points, he said, form the foundation of the ceasefire agreement and are being discussed behind closed doors during ongoing negotiations. He noted that the process is “reasonable, and can easily be dispensed with,” underscoring that only official channels carry authority.
The president criticised media reports, comparing them to “fake news,” and referenced a recent CNN headline that cited a source he said had no power or authority to issue letters claiming influence over the talks.
Trump’s statement signals a firm stance that unofficial communications should not interfere with the sensitive negotiations and reassures that the ceasefire framework remains intact. The federal investigation will determine accountability for those attempting to misrepresent authority in the ongoing US-Iran discussions. Also read: Trump says US will work with Iran, slaps tariff threat on weapons suppliers
The warning comes amid heightened scrutiny over the legitimacy of claims surrounding the negotiations.
