Trump warns patience with Putin running out, calls Ukraine war Europe’s problem

Date:

US President Donald Trump expressed frustration over failed attempts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine and remarked his patience with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is “running out fast”.

He also hinted that the US strained ties with its biggest “customer” India in the hopes of pressuring Russia back to the negotiating table and that Europe must take charge of ending the war.

“That’s not an easy thing to do. Its a big deal. This causes a rift with India…This (Russia-Ukraine war) is a Europe problem much than our problem,” he said

The Trump administration imposed a total of 50% reciprocal tariffs on India including a 25% penalty for purchasing Russian oil. More recently, it pressed the European Union (EU) to charge tariff upto 100% to both India and China.

“There is tremendous hatred between Putin and Zelkensky. Patience running out with Putin and running out fast. When Putin wants to do, Zelenskyy does not and when Zelenskyy wants it, Putin is a question mark,” Trump said on Friday, September 12.

Trump’s efforts to end the tension between Ukraine and Russia, including a red carpet-welcome to Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, and a separate meeting with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has yielded no positive results.

“I have solved seven wars including India and Pakistan…I thought the easiest one was going to be Ukraine and Russia,” Trump said.

After Putin rejected to join a meeting faceing Zelenskyy, Putin discussed Ukraine’s matter in China early this month. There he expressed stern disapproval of Ukraine joining the NATO alliance.
