United Breweries rolls out Kingfisher Smooth in Karnataka, eyes growth in strong beer segment

Date:

United Breweries Ltd (UBL), part of the HEINEKEN Company, on Wednesday, January 28, announced the launch of Kingfisher Smooth in Karnataka, expanding Kingfisher’s presence in the mainstream strong beer segment. The launch in Karnataka, one of India’s largest beer markets, marks a key step in strengthening Kingfisher’s footprint in the category. The company cited strong urban consumption, particularly in Bengaluru, a favourable beer culture, and wide on-premise and modern retail presence as factors making Karnataka a critical market for the roll-out. The launch follows early consumer response to Kingfisher Smooth in Rajasthan.
According to UBL, Kingfisher Smooth has been developed for younger legal-age drinking consumers seeking a smoother and more approachable beer experience. The product is brewed using imported hops, contains no added sugar, and is positioned to deliver a clean, smooth taste while retaining the strength preferred by strong beer consumers.
While Kingfisher Strong continues as the flagship full-bodied offering, Kingfisher Smooth expands the brand’s portfolio as part of UBL’s focus on innovation and consumer centricity, the company said.Kingfisher Smooth will be available across leading retail outlets in Karnataka and will be priced at ₹100 for a 330 ml can, ₹120 for a 330 ml bottle, ₹155 for a 500 ml can, and ₹200 for a 650 ml bottle.

The shares of the company ended half a percent in the green on Wednesday. The stock has fallen 11% in the year so far.
