The company in an exchange filing said it secured the letter of award from CMWSSB, on a public-private partnership basis, to refurbish, finance, operate, maintain and transfer the plant.
The CMWSSB had developed the TTRO plant and its associated distribution network in Kodungaiyur in 2019 to supply high-quality treated wastewater to industries in the Manali-Ennore and Manali-Minjur industrial corridors in the state.
As per the contract, VA Tech Wabag will refurbish and upgrade the existing facility to restore its full treatment capacity of 45 MLD within 18 months.Post this, the company will operate and maintain the facility for 18-and-a-half months.
The company said it is already operating the 45 MLD TTRO facility in Koyambedu, Chennai, which it had designed, built and commissioned in 2019. It also operates a 40 MLD TTRO facility in Ghaziabad which it had developed on a PPP basis.
“This project further strengthens our leadership in the Indian water sector and reinforces our position at the forefront of water recycling and reuse, which will play a critical role in enabling sustainable industrial water management and supporting Chennai’s long-term water security,” S Varadarajan, the whole-time director and chief growth officer of VA Tech Wabag, said.
Shares of VA Tech Wabag are up 2.6% in early trading on Thursday at ₹1,285.1.
