VA Tech Wabag wins order worth up to ₹600 crore from BPCL for Madhya Pradesh project

VA Tech Wabag has secured a ‘large’ domestic order from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to set up advanced industrial water treatment facilities at the latter’s Bina Refinery and Petrochemical Expansion Project in Madhya Pradesh, the company said on Tuesday, January 13.In an exchange filing, the water technology major said the order falls in the ₹250–₹600 crore category and involves a comprehensive Water Block Package, including a Raw Water Treatment Plant (RWTP), a Reverse Osmosis-based Demineralisation Plant (RODMP) and a Zero Liquid Discharge Plant (ZLDP).
The company said that the “state-of-the-art project” will be executed on an EPC basis, covering design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning. The project is to be completed over a 22-month period.

Last month, the company bagged a repeat ‘large’ order from the Saudi Water Authority for the for the advanced technology brackish water reserve osmosis (BWRO) plant with a capacity of 50 million liter per day at Aljouf in Saudi Arabia. Earlier in December, The Saudi Water Partnership Company declared VA Tech Wabag as the preferred bidder as part of a consortium for the Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project in Saudi Arabia, a large EPC contract involving the development of a major wastewater treatment facility to be developed under a 25-year build, operate and transfer model by the developer consortium.

Shares of VA Tech Wabag opened 3.1% higher at ₹1210.20 on Tuesday, following the early “Large” order win announcement. The stock has since come down and was trading 1,196.40 as of 10.19 am.
