The Apple CEO’s visit to China follows his recent dismissal of retirement rumours, where he confirmed he has no plans to step down anytime soon.
In a recent interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, he flatly denied reports that he was preparing to step aside, calling the speculation nothing more than a rumour.

When asked about these speculations, he said, “No, I didn’t say that. I haven’t said that. I love what I do deeply.”
“Twenty-eight years ago, I walked into Apple, and I’ve loved every day of it since. We’ve had ups and downs, but the people I work with are so amazing. They bring out the best in me. And hopefully, I can bring out the best in them,” Cook added.
The Apple CEO further mentioned that he “can’t imagine life without Apple”, highlighting his connection to the tech giant he has led since 2011.
His reassurance comes at a critical point, as Apple turns 50 on April 1.
The tech giant is anticipated to release its first foldable iPhone and AI glasses this year, but it must still demonstrate that it can deliver the updated Siri experience that failed to ship in 2025.
During the interview, he acknowledged concerns about how people use technology.
“I don’t want people using them too much. I don’t want people looking at the smartphone more than they’re looking in someone’s eyes, because if they’re just scrolling endlessly, this is not the way you wanna spend your day. Go out and spend it in nature,” he added.
Cook stated that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to be transformative, depending on how it is applied.
“I think AI is so profound and can be so positive, but, you know, technology doesn’t wanna be good, and it doesn’t wanna be bad. It’s in the hands of the user and the hands of the inventor,” the CEO said.
