In a video now going viral, Oliver began with a statement about the importance of public trust in the advocate’s office. He said, “Public confidence in the office of an advocate matters,” before continuing with lines that appeared to be an AI-generated response.

The incident quickly went viral on social media.
One commented, “So, he asked someone to prepare him speech that someone didn’t delete the prompt and the politician did not read “his” words beforehand. And this dude makes laws for you… amazing.”
Another wrote, “The fact he didn’t even realise means he doesn’t even care what’s on the paper. He’s checked all the way out. These people don’t work and represent us like they should.”
“Did he just breeze through that part like it never happened?” wrote the next.
“Why ban using AI in school but the politician can use?” another commented.

Last year, a report published by Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn became a talking point after it appeared to include a paragraph written by ChatGPT. The article was a standard business news report about car sales in Pakistan. However, the final paragraph stood out because it did not read like a normal news report.
It read, “If you want, I can also create an even snappier ‘front-page style’ version with punchy one-line stats and a bold, infographic-ready layout perfect for maximum reader impact. Do you want me to do that next?”
