President Donald Trump has temporarily replaced the iconic 145-year-old Resolute Desk in the Oval Office with the C&O desk, citing refurbishment needs. Trump, a known germaphobe, posted a picture of the Oval Office with the new desk on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’.“A President, after the election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks. This desk, the “C&O,” which is also very well known and was used by President George H.W. This comes after Elon Musk’s 4-year-old son X Æ A-Xii, whom he calls X, was seen picking his nose and rubbing the desk during a live TV appearance. The incident occurred when X accompanied his father and Trump to the Oval Office for a joint Q&A session about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).The young boy’s antics, including fidgeting, babbling and wandering around, were caught on camera, with the nose-picking incident grabbing headlines. However, it was unclear if the nose-picking episode was the reason for the adjustment.The Resolute Desk, made from the remains of the British Arctic exploration vessel HMS Resolute, was first used by John F. Kennedy in 1961 and then by presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden during their terms in office. Since Queen Victoria presented it to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880, it has been a symbol of the presidency.The C&O desk, built for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway company’s owner, has its history.
