An overwhelming 87% of respondents voted ‘yes’ to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s X poll calling for the impeachment of judges who “obstruct the will of the people”. Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration, put out the poll calling out “federal judges who repeatedly abuse their authority”.Responding to the post, 86.6% agreed to it while 13.4% of individuals clicked on the no button. The statement has sparked a heated debate about the role of the judiciary in the United States. While some have praised Musk for speaking out, others criticised his statement as an attack on the independence of the judiciary.

In another post, he supported impeaching judges after the Trump administration’s efforts to reform the government were bogged down in legal battles.In response to a claim of a conflict of interest by US District Judge John Bates, Musk tweeted, “There needs to be an immediate wave of judicial impeachments, not just one.”

Gates previously ordered federal health agencies to restore online datasets that had been taken down.

During his first three weeks in office, President Donald Trump issued multiple executive orders aimed at reshaping the federal bureaucracy. Many of these actions are now before judges for review.

Many are being challenged in court, and some decisions have held up the administration’s efforts.

Multiple judges have issued preliminary injunctions, or restraining orders, against Trump’s executive moves, preventing them from being enforced. There are now around 40 lawsuits pending against the administration.

For instance, a New Hampshire judge issued an injunction to prevent the administration from removing birthright citizenship and a Rhode Island judge issued a restraining order to prevent the administration from stopping payments for grants and other programs.

Additionally, Trump suspended unauthorised migrants’ right to seek asylum. A lawsuit has been filed seeking the court to prevent the Trump administration from implementing the ban.
