The government is set to introduce a series of bills in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, including amendments related to taxation, MSMEs, judiciary and civil registration.Among the proposed legislations is the MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to make changes to the framework governing micro, small and medium enterprises.
The government will also introduce the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill during the session. Another bill will be brought to provide legislative backing to the tax relief earlier extended to foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) through an ordinance.
The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 is also part of the legislative agenda. Its provisions have already been implemented through an ordinance.Other bills listed for introduction include the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill.Apart from introducing new legislation, the government plans to move key bills for passage during the session. These include the Foreign Contribution Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks changes to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), and the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, aimed at reforms in the higher education sector.The legislative agenda comes ahead of the Monsoon Session, with the government looking to push through its priority bills.Meanwhile, NDA floor leaders are scheduled to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss the alliance’s parliamentary strategy for the session.The meeting will focus on finalising the government’s legislative priorities, coordinating among alliance partners and assessing floor strength ahead of parliamentary proceedings.The Monsoon Session is expected to see discussions on a range of legislative and policy matters, with both the government and opposition preparing their respective strategies.
