One Indian worker was killed and three others were injured in a drone attack in Russia’s Moscow region earlier on Sunday, according to statements issued by the Indian Embassy in Moscow and the Russian Embassy in India.
The Indian Embassy said its officials had visited the site of the attack and met the injured workers at a hospital.
“The Embassy condoles the loss of life and is working with the company management and local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the workers,” the embassy said in a statement.
The Indian mission did not identify the country responsible for the attack.
However, the Russian Embassy in India directly blamed Ukraine, describing the incident as a Ukrainian attack on civilian facilities in the Moscow region.
“The Russian Embassy mourns together with the family of the Indian worker and extends its sympathy to those injured,” the embassy said.
According to preliminary information shared by Russian authorities, more than 12 people were injured in Moscow city, while in the wider Moscow region three people were killed and six others injured in the attack.
The incident comes amid continued drone strikes and escalating hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with attacks increasingly affecting civilian infrastructure and populated regions inside Russia.
