Inside Iran’s 14-point peace proposal— how it’s different from earlier demands

Date:

Iran has sent a new 14-point peace proposal to the United States of America via Pakistan in response to the nine-point framework proposed by Donald Trump’s administration to end the war in West Asia. Here’s how it differs from earlier peace proposals:

Aspect US 15-Point Proposal (March) Iran 10-Point proposal (April) Iran 14-Point Proposal (May)
Timeline Two-month ceasefire Blockade end before talks Resolve all issues in 30 days
Nuclear Program Dismantle facilities (Natanz, Fordow), handover uranium, no enrichment Recognize enrichment right; end IAEA resolutions Deferred to “Stage 2”; no changes
Strait of Hormuz Full reopening as free zone Full Iranian control End blockade, new Iranian-favorable framework. Parallel talks, no precondition
Regional Proxies/War End support for Hezbollah, Houthis, Hamas Permanent halt, protect proxies (Hezbollah/Houthis) End war on all fronts (incl. Lebanon), protect proxies
Military/Security Limits on ballistic missiles Not explicitly addressed Omitted
Sanctions/Assets Relief conditional on compliance Full lift of US/secondary/UN/IAEA resolutions Same as earlier

The latest proposal is softer than the earlier 10-point plan, which was a direct rejection of the framework for peace in West Asia.
“Now the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach,” Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran, according to state broadcaster IRIB.

How US Reacted To Iran’s Truce Plan

“I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform. While the deal is yet to be accepted by both sides, Israel continued its strikes in Lebanon, killing three people in the town of Sammaiyeh in the Tyre district.

The Israeli attacks have become a regular occurrence despite the fragile April 17 ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah war.
