IRCON wins ₹224 cr order from North East Frontier Railways for key infra projects

IRCON International Limited has secured a Letter of Acceptance (Very well) worth ₹224.5 crore from North East Frontier Railways for composite works covering civil, electrical, mechanical, and signal & telecom infrastructure.

The project scope includes upgrading maintenance infrastructure for the Vande Bharat Express at New Jalpaiguri Coaching Complex, construction of a GE locomotive shed at Siliguri (SGUJ) to home 250 GE locos (WDG4G/WDG6G), and setting up next-generation freight maintenance facilities in Katihar division. The execution period has been set at 18 month.

The company clarified that the order is purely domestic, does not involve related-party transactions, and forms part of its ongoing engagement with Indian Railways’ modernisation push.Also Read:

Last, month, IRCON reported weak first quarter results for FY26. Profit after tax fell 26.5% year-on-year to ₹164.5 crore, as overall income slipped. Revenue from operations came in at ₹1,786 crore, down 21.9% from ₹2,287 crore in the same period last year, while total income dropped to ₹1,892.4 crore from ₹2,385.3 crore.

Despite subdued financial performance, the company maintained a robust order book. As of 30 June 2025, IRCON’s order book stood at ₹20,973 crore, comprising ₹15,724 crore from railways, ₹4,234 crore from highways, and ₹1,015 crore from other sectors.

As of 2:23 pm, IRCON shares were trading at ₹169.55 on the NSE, down 2.01% (₹3.48), though above the day’s low of ₹168.28.
