In a rare display of warmth and hospitality, Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II personally drove Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jordan Museum in Amman on Tuesday, December 16. This special gesture comes as PM Modi marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.The Crown Prince, who is the 42nd-generation direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad, took the wheel of his black BMW to drive PM Modi to the museum. Located in the Ras al-Ein district of Amman and built in 2014, the Jordan Museum is the largest in the country, housing some of its most important archaeological and historical artefacts.

PM Modi took to social media to highlight this significant diplomatic gesture, writing, “On the way to The Jordan Museum with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II.” He also shared a couple of pictures on X of himself in the car with Jordan’s Crown Prince.

This visit is part of PM Modi’s two-day trip to Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. Earlier in the day, PM Modi hailed the outcomes of his visit, stating that they marked ‘a meaningful expansion of the India-Jordan partnership.’

“Our cooperation in new and renewable energy reflects a shared commitment to clean growth, energy security and climate responsibility. Collaboration in water resources management and development will help us share best practices in conservation, efficiency and technology, ensuring long-term water security,” he wrote on X.

“Sharing our digital innovations will support Jordan’s digital transformation and promote inclusive governance,” he added.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Monday posted the list of outcomes from the visit, which included an MoU on Water Resources Management and Development, an on Technical Cooperation in the field of New and Renewable Energy, a Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora, renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme for 2025-29, and a Letter of Intent on cooperation in sharing successful digital solutions implemented at a population scale.

Following his visit to Jordan, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Abiy Ahmed Ali’s country, Ethiopia, for his first official visit to the African nation, before concluding the final leg of his journey in Oman.
