L&T’s industrial electronics arm partners EVR Motors to manufacture EV traction motors in India

Larsen & Toubro’s industrial electronics vertical, L&T Electronic Products & Systems (LTEPS), has partnered with EVR Motors to jointly develop and manufacture next-generation electric vehicle traction motors for the Indian market, as companies accelerate localisation efforts in the country’s EV supply chain.The companies in a press release on Wednesday, May 27, said the collaboration will focus on developing advanced traction motor solutions tailored for Indian operating conditions, including improved energy efficiency, compact design and reduced dependence on rare-earth materials.

The motors will cater to multiple vehicle segments, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.

The companies said the products will be integrated with indigenously designed motor control units to offer complete EV drivetrain solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The partnership combines LTEPS’ engineering, systems integration and manufacturing capabilities with EVR Motors’ traction motor technology. The companies said the collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Prashant Jain, Head of L&T Electronic Products & Systems, said the partnership is aimed at developing indigenous EV powertrain solutions for India’s mobility sector.“By combining advanced motor innovation with indigenous motor control unit, we bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world deployment across India’s EV landscape,” he said.

EVR Motors CEO Opher Doron said the partnership would help the company scale traction motor solutions tailored for Indian mobility requirements.

LTEPS is a business unit of Larsen & Toubro Ltd. focused on electronic systems and solutions for defence, aerospace, industrial and energy applications. EVR Motors develops electric propulsion and traction motor technologies for electric vehicles globally.

LTEPS is the industrial electronics business vertical launched by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. in April 2026. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the unit focuses on areas such as power electronics, mobility, industrial robotics, automation and communication platforms.

L&T has said LTEPS will expand across a 40-acre zone in Coimbatore covering the broader industrial electronics value chain, including R&D, product development and contract manufacturing.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro Ltd were trading slightly above Tuesday’s closing at ₹4,043.60 as of 1.51 pm. The stock has gained about 11% over the past year.
