On April 22, 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by a group of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam district.
“The Member States strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. They expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the dead and the wounded,” the declaration mentioned.”They further stated that perpetrators, organisers and sponsors of such attacks must be brought to justice,” it read.
The member states also condemned the terrorist attacks on the Jaffar Express on March 11 and in Pakistan’s Khuzdar on May 21, 2025.
Modi mentioned the Pahalagam terror attack at the SCO, saying, “India has been facing the scourge of terrorism for the last seven decades. We have seen the ugly face of terrorism recently in Pahalgam. Terrorism, separatism and extremism are major challenges to the peace, prosperity and stability of any nation.”
Modi thanked all friendly nations that stood by India following the Pahalgam attack. “Pahalgam strike was not only an attack on India, but it was an open challenge to countries, people believing in humanity. A natural question is that acceptable for us that some nations are openly supporting terrorism,” he asked.
He urged all members of the SCO to clearly state that no double standards in tackling terrorism will be acceptable. “We will have to unitedly combat terrorism in all its forms; this is our responsibility to humanity,” he added.
