Trump invites PM Modi to join Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ as WEF weighs post-war plan

Date:

US President Donald Trump has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join a newly created Gaza Board of Peace, an international body tasked with overseeing Gaza’s demilitarisation, humanitarian relief, infrastructure rebuilding, and the formation of a technocratic Palestinian administration after the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.A US Embassy spokesperson said Trump announced the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) on January 16, adding that more Executive Board and Gaza Executive Board members will be named in the coming weeks.
The Board, unveiled on January 15 under phase two of Trump’s 20-point peace plan endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, will be led on the ground by former UN envoy Nickolay Mladenov, while Gaza’s transitional administration will be headed by Palestinian economist Ali Shaath.
Trump described the initiative as “the greatest and most prestigious Board ever assembled.” The executive committee includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, US envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and investor Marc Rowan.A separate Gaza Executive Board features regional leaders, including Turkey’s Hakan Fidan, the UAE’s Reem al-Hashimy, and Qatari diplomat Ali Al-Thawadi.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has publicly accepted Trump’s invitation to join the Board. Invitations have also been sent to leaders in Canada, Turkey, and Egypt. India has yet to respond.

Supporters see the Board as a US-led path to stabilise and rebuild Gaza. Critics question its legitimacy and the lack of broader Palestinian representation.
