Orbital View: The International Space Station shared a nighttime image showing the cityscape of India illuminated by city lights as the spacecraft passed over the Arabian Sea and toward the Himalayan region. The image presents the subcontinent under a dark sky with clusters of lights forming a web-like pattern. “The well-lit nighttime cityscape of India pictured from the International Space Station as it soared over the Arabian Sea and across the Himalayas,” the ISS wrote on X.

Light Network: The photograph shows bright city hubs connected through road webs and nearby villages marked by smaller radiant lights. From orbit, the illuminated pattern resembles a network across the landscape, revealing how human settlement has reshaped the terrain into a visible maze of light. Large metropolitan areas form concentrated clusters while smaller settlements extend the pattern across plains and populated corridors.

Sea To Peaks: The image was taken as the station travelled above the Arabian Sea on its path toward northern India, offering a broad geographical view. Dark waters appear along the southern edge, contrasting with the bright coastal cities. Moving north, illuminated plains gradually give way to darker mountainous terrain where the Himalayan landscape interrupts the continuous bands of city lights.
