“A detailed conversation this evening with Foreign Minister Araghchi of Iran on the latest developments regarding the ongoing conflict. We agreed to remain in touch,” Jaishankar said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
However, no details of the conversation were shared by the top diplomat.Iran’s Foreign Ministry shared the details of the conversation on its X account on March 11. According to that, the two leaders discussed recent regional developments and the “implications” of the ongoing hostilities.
During the conversation, Araghchi referred to incidents including a missile strike on a girls’ elementary school in Minab and other attacks on civilian facilities and public service centres. He emphasised Iran’s determination to defend the country’s territorial integrity.

The Iranian foreign ministry also stated that Araghchi described the military actions by the United States and Israel as violations of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, adding that governments worldwide have a responsibility to condemn such actions.
Concerns over Strait of Hormuz security
According to the Iranian statement, both ministers also discussed the impact of the conflict on maritime security and vessel movement through the Strait of Hormuz.”The foreign ministers of Iran and India also discussed the consequences of the US and Israeli regime’s military aggression on the security of shipping and vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz,” the Iranian foreign ministry statement read.
Araghchi reiterated Iran’s position that it remains committed to safeguarding shipping security in the Persian Gulf, while arguing that disruptions in the region were the result of “aggressive and destabilising actions” by the United States.
Jaishankar highlighted the importance of sustaining and strengthening bilateral relations between Tehran and New Delhi and stressed the need for continued consultations aimed at restoring regional stability.

Wider diplomatic outreach by India
Separately, Jaishankar also held discussions with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on the broader implications of the crisis in West Asia.
“Exchanged views with FM Johann Wadephul of Germany on the ongoing conflict in West Asia,” Jaishankar said in another post on X.

The external affairs minister also discussed the situation with Cho Hyun, including its potential impact on the energy sector and global markets.
The diplomatic outreach comes amid heightened tensions in the region and concerns about disruptions to global energy supplies passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
