Titan’s move into lab-grown diamonds marks a cautious but strategic diversification, with the Tata Group company positioning the ‘beYon’ brand as an affordable, lifestyle-led offering for women. While the near-term revenue impact is expected to be modest, the entry of a large organised player could reshape consumer preferences and competitive dynamics in India’s jewellery market over time.

The first exclusive retail store for the ‘beYon’ brand is scheduled to open in Mumbai on December 29. This initial store is reportedly a repurposed outlet from CaratLane, a subsidiary of Titan. The company has further plans to expand its retail footprint with additional stores in Mumbai and Delhi in the near future.
The ‘beYon’ brand will feature a curated range of lab-grown diamond jewellery, specifically targeting the adornment and lifestyle needs of women. By positioning these products as more affordable alternatives to natural diamonds, Titan aims to capture a new customer segment without cannibalising the demand for its traditional natural diamond offerings.

This entry marks a seminal moment for the Indian jewellery industry, as it represents the first formal and large-scale entry by a major organised player into the lab-grown diamond sector. While the immediate financial impact is not expected to be significant, the long-term effects of this strategic shift will be closely monitored by the industry and investors over the next few years. The move is considered an important inflection point that could influence the broader market dynamics for both natural and lab-grown diamonds.
